Camera Showcase: Pentax Ricoh K-500 Reviews, Specifications, Price

PENTAX K-500 digital SLR camera, with its solid basic specifications along with a seriously attractive value for price, is designed to enhance the real joy of high-quality digital SLR photography to everyone.  This cost-efficient model inherits many remarkable features such as a compact, lightweight, easy-to-hold body, high-resolution image reproduction with approximately 16.2 effective megapixels, super-high-sensitivity shooting at ISO 51200 and high-speed continuous shooting at approximately six images per second, making it an ideal imaging tool for all casual digital photographers.

Pentax Ricoh K 500 | PixelBing

The K-500 is provided with the state-of-the-art CMOS image sensor with a large image-capturing area measuring 23.7mm by 15.7mm, to assure high-speed image data readout. This image sensor is combined with PRIME M, the same high-performance imaging engine incorporated in upper-class models. This enables to deliver super-high-resolution, rich-gradation digital images with approximately 16.28 effective megapixels. The K-500 also offers super-high-sensitivity shooting at a top sensitivity of ISO 51200, allowing the photographer to handhold the camera for beautiful nighttime snapshots very efficiently.

The K-500 imparts a high-speed continuous shooting function that enables you to capture active and even the fast-moving subjects such as athletes, stage performers and wildlife. It does so efficiently by capturing a series of images, at a maximum speed of approximately six images per second (in the JPEG recording format). You can grab the best moment without any worries.

PENTAX developed SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism that effectively compensates the adverse effect of camera shake. This mechanism facilitates delivering of sharp, blur-free images, even under shake-prone conditions such as when shooting in the dark without flash illumination, using a telephoto lens or taking landscapes in twilight. This innovative mechanism works with almost all PENTAX interchangeable lenses, even those developed for film-format cameras. It is also the key to some special functions, including the ASTRO TRACER mode that simplifies astronomical photography in combination with the optional O-GPS1 GPS Unit.

Lenses compatible with this mechanism: PENTAX K, KA, KAF, KAF2 and KAF3mount lenses; screw-mount lenses (with an adapter); and 645 and 67system lenses (with an adapter). But some functions may not be available with certain lenses.

Although the K-50 has a compact body common to all entry-class prism, it features a glass prism finder with nearly 100% field of view and approximately 0.92-times magnification with a 50mm F1.4 lens at infinity, to cover the entire field of view for easy focusing and framing. Since it delivers a clear view of the subject even in bright sunshine and eliminates parallax and time lag in the viewfinder image, the K-50 responds efficiently and reliably to demanding applications and subjects, such as landscapes requiring delicate, high-precision framing, and sports scenes where the timing of shutter release is critical. With the amazing features, you will definitely start loving your photography no matter you are a professional or a beginner!

The K-500 records high-resolution, full HD movie clips (1920 x 1080 pixels) in the H.264 recording format, with a choice of frame rate of 30, 25 or 24 frames per second. Not only this, it even offers creative image-processing tools like Custom Images and useful movie-recording features such as an interval movie recording function for the production of more personalized movies.

The K-500 features the state-of-the-art SAFOX IXi+ AF sensor module, which assures responsive, high-precision autofocus operation with 11 sensors, including nine cross-type sensors in the middle. It also features a spotbeam projector to assist AF operation in poorly lit locations. Its select-area expansion function keeps the sensor module tracking a moving subject, even when it moves out of a pre-assigned auto-tracking area, by assessing distance data collected by neighboring focus sensors. As the result, not only the accuracy and speed of detecting moving subjects during autofocus operation, but also the auto-tracking performance of moving subjects when using a telephoto lens, have been greatly improved.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom: First Smartphone to contain 16 Megapixel 10x Optical Zoom Camera

Samsung Electronics has recently announced the launch of the new Samsung GalaxyS4 Zoom, a new device that blends the stylish and fully featured smartphone ‘galaxy S’ series with an amazing best-in-class, highly advanced digital camera; definitely one of its kind! This means that the usual backplate of the previous ‘S4 Mini’ has been replaced with a 16-megapixel camera with unbelievable 10x optical zoom! With the stunning combination it targets many people who now can use their phones as their main camera, that too with highly impressive picture quality.

Samsung GALAXY S4 zoom | PixelBing

It’s powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with resolution of 960 x 540, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory that’s expandable via microSD. It also has a 2130 mAh battery, and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean skinned with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. The camera set-up includes a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), optical 10X zoom, Xenon flash, HDR, panorama, and 24mm wide-angle lens. It offers full HD video capture, and there’s also a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.

The S4 Zoom is the only smartphone that allows a brilliant optical zoom along with an impressive digital zoom. The focal length starts at 24mm, which is quite a wide angle that allows capturing more of a scene in one picture. It zooms to 10x, which is sufficient for clicking high quality shots even from distant position from the object. The zoom is controlled by a ring around the barrel, which can also be set to control different functions or bring up menus. It can be twisted during a phone call and it’ll allow user to snap a shot and instantly send it to the one at the other end, via MMS. Behind the zoom barrel a 16-megapixel backside, illuminated CMOS sensor, is there. It is physically bigger than the sensors found inside regular smartphones. A bigger sensor means that more light can hit it, which should greatly improve image quality.

With its bigger sensor, higher resolution, and 10x optical zoom, the Galaxy S4 Zoom may well be the dedicated shutterbug’s phone of choice.

Samsung has provided 25 different scene modes to choose from, including “HDR”, “panorama” and “night”. User can allow the phone to suggest the best mode for the scene or they can simply leave it in auto mode for a hassle-free experience.

When the phone specification is considered, galaxy s4 zoom is a bit disappointing. Stuffed inside the body is 1.5GHz dual-core processor is a disappointing downgrade from the huge quad-core brute (octo-core in some places) in the true S4. Editing such high-resolution photos and videos would undoubtedly be made a whole lot smoother with a faster chip but unfortunately a lesser chip in place is a disadvantage that this phone offers. It’s running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the most recent version of Google’s mobile operating system. The interface has been tweaked slightly to make it easier to access camera functions. There’s 8GB of internal storage as standard, of which 5GB is available for use (expandable via microSD). The battery is a fairly capacious 2,330mAh affair, which can be removed via a slot on the side. The screen is a 4.3-inch affair with a disappointing 960×540-pixel resolution. That’s a big step down from the full HD display found on the S4 and particularly irritating given the phone’s imaging focus, where more pixels will help show off a clearer image.

User can do everything and miss nothing thanks to the revolutionary new Zoom Ring, a simple and intuitive way to access the Galaxy S4 Zoom’s key features. As mentioned earlier, while in the middle of a phone call, seeing something that’s absolutely worth sharing, a quick twist of the Zoom Ring will activate the In-Call Photo Share feature. It lets capture and send an image directly via MMS to the one at the other end. For easy camera navigation, the Zoom Ring can be used to activate the Quick Launch and Shortcut features, giving instant access to multiple camera modes including Auto, Gallery and Smart Mode with just a simple twist. Revolutionizing conventional camera zoom controls, the Optical zoom control replaces traditional dials and buttons with smooth, easy-to-operate digital controls making it even easier to take professional and accurate shots.

The Samsung galaxy s4 zoom allows capturing best pictures with the best-in-class 10x Optical Zoom and 16MP BSI CMOS Sensor that lets everyone capture beautiful images from far away or close ups and personal, in all light conditions, without having to carry heavy camera gear. The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) helps keep the camera perfectly still, reducing blur and stabilizing the image when zooming-in for high-quality photos and videos.

Photo Suggest instantly connects the users to huge libraries of images taken by fellow photographers, to help find and compose the best-ever-shots, anywhere in the world. The new EOS 70D Digital SLR camera is a game-changing DSLR model that incorporates advanced features for high-quality still and video capture and intuitive operation that allows photographers to evolve their creative vision from shooting still images to shooting moving images“, said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Technologies & Communications Group, Canon U.S.A. “This camera’s outstanding image quality combined with built-in wireless technology and popular creative functions and filters makes it easy to turn photos into works of art and share them immediately.

Focusing is one of the key highlights for the Canon EOS 70D. The camera provides an innovative new Dual Pixel CMOS AF system for instant and precise focusing of video as well as still images. This is a different system from all other Canon cameras; the first of its kind. This newly-developed Dual Pixel CMOS AF, a phase-detection autofocus (AF) technology on the camera’s image sensor plane, enables users to shoot video with the new EOS 70D close to the quality of a video shot with a camcorder. Dual Pixel CMOS AF employs a revolutionary CMOS sensor on which all of the effective pixels are able to perform both still imaging and phase-detection AF simultaneously to achieve dramatically improved AF performance over other EOS cameras during Live View shooting and when shooting video.

Canon EOS 70D | Pixelbing

Dual Pixel CMOS AF realizes advantages like exceptional tracking performance, shorter focusing times, and smoother auto-focusing during video shooting especially when compared with Canon’s conventional Live View AF systems. Now users can concentrate more attention on the subject and composing the photo when shooting because Live View shooting can be used in a manner similar to using the camera’s viewfinder, as simple as that! Dual Pixel CMOS AF also supports 103 models of EF lenses (including many earlier models), enhancing a photographer’s creative options as well as maximizing the benefit of Dual Pixel CMOS AF in a variety of situations.

The canon EOS 70D delivers superb still performance. It features a new 20.2 megapixel APS-C Canon CMOS sensor, Canon’s superb DIGIC 5+ Image Processor, as well as an extensive ISO range of 100-12800 (expandable to 25,600). With such great specifications, the EOS 70D Digital SLR camera is capable of producing sharp, detailed images, even in low-light conditions.

Fujifilm announces new 50x Extreme Long Zoom FinePix SL1000 Bridge Camera at CES 2013

FUJIFILM North America Corporation announces the amazing FinePix SL1000 bridge camera that features a 16MP 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS sensor, a bright FUJINON 50x zoom lens and a very powerful processor that allows the consumers to capture a wide photographic range.

“The new FinePix SL1000 is ideal for those looking for the widest range and flexibility of a fixed lens camera” said David Troy, director of marketing, Digital Cameras, Electronic Imaging Division, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “With its new 50x lens (24-1200mm equivalent) and super macro ability, the SL1000 has you covered from less than 1” to extreme telephoto shots without ever having to move, or change out any lenses like an interchangeable lens system camera.”

The camera is known for the key features like fast autofocus and high speed response times. The FinePix SL1000 uses a 16MP BSI-CMOS sensor with the ability to shoot at sensitivities as high as ISO 12800, so that users can capture high quality images even in low light conditions. The SL1000 also achieves autofocus speeds as fast as 0.2 seconds, a startup time of 0.9 seconds and continuous shooting mode at 10fps at full resolution (max 9 frames)for quick action and a better overall shooting experience.

The headline grabbing feature of the camera is the Extreme Long Zoom along with Powerful Optical Image Stabilization. The FinePix SL1000 uses a newly-developed 50x optical FUJINON zoom lens (24-1200mm) with a fast aperture of F2.9-5.6 and a powerful new Optical Image Stabilization that reduces the effect of blurring at longer zoom lengths. Moreover, the zoom doesn’t stop at 1200mm, instead, with the Intelligent Digital Zoom,  the focal length is effectively doubled to 2400mm or an incredible 100x with absolutely stunning results. The SL1000’s FUJINON lens has 17 elements in 12 groups, and the lens combines aspherical and ED elements for reduced aberration and superior image quality. FUJINON’s unique Super EBC coating technology is employed to reduce ghosting and flare for sharp results in challenging low light shooting situations, and is capable of super macro photography as close as 0.39” for maximum flexibility.

The FinePix SL 1000 comes up with a bright and easy to use tilting LCD screen. The camera has a highly detailed (920k-dot) electronic viewfinder (EVF) that is perfect for helping frame shots in bright sunshine. With its eye sensor, the SL 1000 is able to switch automatically between the EVF and the 3.0” tilting LCD (920k-dot) screen.

In addition to the standard zoom toggle controls on the top of the camera, a second zoom lever is placed on the side of the lens barrel, allowing you to adjust your zoom range with your left hand while your right index finger rests on the shutter button, ready to take the shot. Choose from three zoom speeds or use “auto return zoom” for long zoom photography. The mode dial makes choosing a shooting mode easy – P, S, A, and M modes can be selected at the twist of a dial for sophisticated photographic techniques using manual exposure control.
