The Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 was launched at the CES 2014. What is new in the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2, I am going to write all about it in this article.

Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 Features

The Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 features a 16 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor that is capable of shooting great images, and has the full functionality of that of an android powered smartphone. With increased processor power, RAM, and higher android platform, capturing images and playing with them is butter smooth and everything is very seamless.

The Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 features a 4.8 inch touchscreen and inherits the design cues from its elder sibling, and has a better retro-modern product design which comes in two colors, white and black. The Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 has a 1.6 GHz quad core processor at heart and a 2GB RAM that accelerates the processing power of the camera as well as the phone component to the max, and also has the NFC or Near Field Communication and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The camera side of the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 has a 21x optical zoom which is more than ample for zooming purposes, and is backed by a 2000mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 has 8 GB of internal storage and up to 64 GB of external SD card storage. It also comes with a pre-loaded DropBox app with a free 50GB online storage for up to 2 years.

Talking about the “funky” features of the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2, the camera also consists of a lot of them.

First of them all is the feature called ‘Tag and Go’ that makes the camera connect to the NFC enabled devices and share images using many functionalities. Photo Beam is a feature with which any image being viewed on the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 automatically is sent to the smartphone that is paired with the camera. Next comes the Mobile Link, that allows photographers to transfer selected images to their smartphone or other devices. A cool feature is the Remote Viewfinder that acts similar to a remote desktop or TeamViewer, i-e lets photographers to control the camera with the help of their own phones from a close distance.

Looking at the increasing trend of taking selfies, and how the word made its journey to the English dictionaries too, here is also a special mode dedicated to selfies, where the camera will click 5 consecutive images so that the user can select the best one out of the bunch. The 28 different preset modes are

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom: First Smartphone to contain 16 Megapixel 10x Optical Zoom Camera

Samsung Electronics has recently announced the launch of the new Samsung GalaxyS4 Zoom, a new device that blends the stylish and fully featured smartphone ‘galaxy S’ series with an amazing best-in-class, highly advanced digital camera; definitely one of its kind! This means that the usual backplate of the previous ‘S4 Mini’ has been replaced with a 16-megapixel camera with unbelievable 10x optical zoom! With the stunning combination it targets many people who now can use their phones as their main camera, that too with highly impressive picture quality.

Samsung GALAXY S4 zoom | PixelBing

It’s powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with resolution of 960 x 540, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory that’s expandable via microSD. It also has a 2130 mAh battery, and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean skinned with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. The camera set-up includes a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), optical 10X zoom, Xenon flash, HDR, panorama, and 24mm wide-angle lens. It offers full HD video capture, and there’s also a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.

The S4 Zoom is the only smartphone that allows a brilliant optical zoom along with an impressive digital zoom. The focal length starts at 24mm, which is quite a wide angle that allows capturing more of a scene in one picture. It zooms to 10x, which is sufficient for clicking high quality shots even from distant position from the object. The zoom is controlled by a ring around the barrel, which can also be set to control different functions or bring up menus. It can be twisted during a phone call and it’ll allow user to snap a shot and instantly send it to the one at the other end, via MMS. Behind the zoom barrel a 16-megapixel backside, illuminated CMOS sensor, is there. It is physically bigger than the sensors found inside regular smartphones. A bigger sensor means that more light can hit it, which should greatly improve image quality.

With its bigger sensor, higher resolution, and 10x optical zoom, the Galaxy S4 Zoom may well be the dedicated shutterbug’s phone of choice.

Samsung has provided 25 different scene modes to choose from, including “HDR”, “panorama” and “night”. User can allow the phone to suggest the best mode for the scene or they can simply leave it in auto mode for a hassle-free experience.

When the phone specification is considered, galaxy s4 zoom is a bit disappointing. Stuffed inside the body is 1.5GHz dual-core processor is a disappointing downgrade from the huge quad-core brute (octo-core in some places) in the true S4. Editing such high-resolution photos and videos would undoubtedly be made a whole lot smoother with a faster chip but unfortunately a lesser chip in place is a disadvantage that this phone offers. It’s running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the most recent version of Google’s mobile operating system. The interface has been tweaked slightly to make it easier to access camera functions. There’s 8GB of internal storage as standard, of which 5GB is available for use (expandable via microSD). The battery is a fairly capacious 2,330mAh affair, which can be removed via a slot on the side. The screen is a 4.3-inch affair with a disappointing 960×540-pixel resolution. That’s a big step down from the full HD display found on the S4 and particularly irritating given the phone’s imaging focus, where more pixels will help show off a clearer image.

User can do everything and miss nothing thanks to the revolutionary new Zoom Ring, a simple and intuitive way to access the Galaxy S4 Zoom’s key features. As mentioned earlier, while in the middle of a phone call, seeing something that’s absolutely worth sharing, a quick twist of the Zoom Ring will activate the In-Call Photo Share feature. It lets capture and send an image directly via MMS to the one at the other end. For easy camera navigation, the Zoom Ring can be used to activate the Quick Launch and Shortcut features, giving instant access to multiple camera modes including Auto, Gallery and Smart Mode with just a simple twist. Revolutionizing conventional camera zoom controls, the Optical zoom control replaces traditional dials and buttons with smooth, easy-to-operate digital controls making it even easier to take professional and accurate shots.

The Samsung galaxy s4 zoom allows capturing best pictures with the best-in-class 10x Optical Zoom and 16MP BSI CMOS Sensor that lets everyone capture beautiful images from far away or close ups and personal, in all light conditions, without having to carry heavy camera gear. The built-in Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) helps keep the camera perfectly still, reducing blur and stabilizing the image when zooming-in for high-quality photos and videos.

Photo Suggest instantly connects the users to huge libraries of images taken by fellow photographers, to help find and compose the best-ever-shots, anywhere in the world. Photo Suggest can direct to the ideal nearby location which gives the vantage point the user need for that perfect photo. The GalaxyS4 Zoom also features Samsung’s popular Smart Mode. Simply choose from a series of pre-set modes and the camera will automatically adjust to ensure to capture the best photo possible. Use Drama Shot to merge continuous shots of moving objects into a single composed image, or Action Freeze to instantly capture high-speed action. If users are not sure which Smart Mode to select, the Smart Mode Suggest feature can assess the scene and provides a list of the best options based on light levels, focal length, or face detection.

The GalaxyS4 Zoom’s heritage is evident throughout, from its sleek and stylish design to the powerful, yet intuitive user interface. Running on Android Jelly Bean 4.2, the GalaxyS4 zoom boasts many of the same features as the recently launched Galaxy S4, including Touchwiz, which lets everyone fully customize various aspects of the device including the lock screen and notification bar, for a truly personal mobile experience.

Perfect for keen travelers, Story Albumlets and all the favorite images and videos can be arranged into one timeline to share with friends and loved ones. It also offers facility to edit images and even can order prints directly from the device through a partnership with blurb, Samsung Link allows easily to transfer images to laptops or tablets for safe keeping with just the touch of a button. Alternatively, it also allows synchronizing all of your data in own personal cloud through HomeSync.

The GalaxyS4 Zoom also features the new Samsung Hub, a one-stop destination for all of the latest music, videos, books and games. One can search, download and enjoy all of the favorite entertainment at the touch of a button, directly from his device. Sharing a new track or game with friends using Group Play and connecting directly with their Samsung devices is also possible, so as to listen and play together, without the need for a Wi-Fi AP or cellular signal.

Galaxy s4 zoom is available at £440 in UK. In American and Indian markets, it is said to be available very soon and no information about pricing is available yet.

Samsung NX300 lineup

Samsung NX300 mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with 2D-3D flipping lens announced at CES 2013

The Korean electronics giant Samsung has probably been a head turning showcaser at the CES. From ultrabooks to ultra HD television sets, and flexible mobile phones and eight core processors, the company has been interestingly dominant at the CES 2013. What we are interested soulfully is the camera lineup, so we take you there to let you know what was the wonder this company came up with in the range of digital cameras in the CES 2013.

In the CES 2013, Samsung has announced the NX300 a new addition to the Samsung’s NX series of mirrorless cameras. The NX300 houses an entirely new 20.3 Megapixel APS-CMOS sensor, and a very wide ISO range ranging from ISO100 to ISO25600 is capable of capturing high quality images in all types of light conditions. Samsung also boasts about a new Hybrid Auto Focus (AF) system. The camera is sure to be a blockbuster amidst the action photographers. It has shutter speed as fast as 1/6000sec and is capable of shooting continuous pictures at 8.6fps.

Samsung has been working to come up with better imaging and one step forward success is the proof of its in-house developed DRIMe IV imaging engine which provides precisely detailed images and greater noise reduction. The camera shoots videos in 1080p full HD, and is WiFi enabled.

Do not get knocked by the retro styling and buttons, the NX300 consists of a 84mm (3.31”) AMOLED touch screen with 768,000 pixels along with a tilt display which makes it easier to capture images from more angles. It also has a 5-way manual key interface. The camera has an intuitive Smart Mode that allows users to choose from 14 different settings, such as Creative Shot, Landscape, Light Trace or Action Freeze that automatically adjust parameters such as aperture and shutter speed in order to obtain the best shot possible for the desired situation. There is a new feature included, called the i-Depth, which is a part of NX Series’ i-Function system, which enables users to modify camera parameters using the lens itself, adjusting the image without ever having to move off target.

Now, coming to the biggest news associated with the NX300, Samsung has launched a compatible lens with the camera, though is sold separately, that enables the camera to shoot 3D images as well as 2D images with flip of just a single switch on the lens. Samsung 45mm f1.8 2D / 3D lens as they call it, is the world’s first one-lens 3D system for a consumer camera. For shooting 3D images, the lens works by using two LCD filters to project slightly ‘parallaxed’ images onto the camera’s sensor. It can shoot 3D videos as well as still images. Any 3D TV can efficiently be used for the 3D video playback.

Impressive, isn’t it? Regarding the verdict of availability of the NX300 camera, Samsung will ensure it hits the market shelves nearby March 2013 for a price bracket nearing $750 and will include a standard zoom lens. The 3-D lens will be sold separately at around $500 and will be available at the same time.
